The holidays are fast approaching, which means it’s time to make some changes to your health and fitness. I am inviting you to join my event to learn more about my next group and how you can join me to get in the best shape of your life!
In the group, we will be using the 21 Day Fix to learn about healthy eating, moving our bodies and creating new habits. 2. ENCOURAGEMENT TO KEEP GOING
Sometimes we attach so much significance to achieving a goal that when we experience a setback — which is inevitable at some point along the way — we just throw our hands up in the air and decide that the goal isn’t worth pursuing after all. An outside party can encourage you during setbacks and plateaus or when you experience a lack of motivation, helping you look past the momentary failure to see the bigger goal.
3. AN HONEST LOOK
If an accountability partner is just patting you on the back or nodding their head when you make excuses, then they’re not really holding you accountable after all. An important part of being accountable to someone is giving them permission to be honest with you. They should be comfortable telling you when you’ve gotten off track or pointing out areas where you may want to focus more of your efforts.
4. IDEAS AND INSPIRATION
Sometimes, you may look for someone who is more of a mentor than an accountability partner. If they’ve walked the road before you and achieved the goal you’re striving for, they can share ideas, tips and experiences that will help you along the way.
… At the end of the day, just knowing that someone is going to ask you how you’re doing with a goal or resolution can be the extra bit of motivation you need to stay on track.

November is underway and around this time of year, I always start to feel grateful – I’ve always felt that way, but since my struggle with cancer, I feel that way even more.
You see, I started chemotherapy in November. And during that month, three years ago, I didn’t feel grateful. I felt scared. I felt depressed. We had recently moved to a new city, and I truly felt like “What’s the point of making new friends if I’m about to die?” So I didn’t make new friends – I closed myself off from meeting new people and hid inside the walls of myself.
Have you ever felt like that?
A part of me thought that first treatment might actually kill me. I remember crying with Matt on our balcony, with no idea what the future held for us, for our family, for our kids… But that was three years ago, and since struggling with cancer, I’ve learned that the things that don’t kill you make you STRONGER.
Having cancer was the biggest blessing in my life. It taught me so many things, but chief among them was the ability to appreciate and embrace gratitude, grace, and good food.
And thus the Gratitude, Grace and Good Food challenge was born.
I want to invite you to a special opportunity this month only to help you meet your goals – not just physically, but mentally as well. I want to help you move beyond the obstacles that are blocking your path right now.
From the point of view of someone who spent many years taking her health for granted, I want to introduce you to a new way of looking at your goals. Let’s take a good look at all the things you wen through in 2014 – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and look to see how they ALL blessed your life.
Of course, at this time of year, it’s HARD to make YOURSELF a priority – but that’s exactly what I’m asking you to do. It would be easy to say “I’ll start in January” when the rest of the world takes back control of their lives, but why wait? Don’t wait for the New Year – This is the time to make a change. Put your health first. Surround yourself with others who positively impact your life. And most of all, take the time to be show gratitude to everyone and everything around you, give yourself a little grace, and still enjoy some good food.

I’m not asking you to start a diet right now. This isn’t a diet. This is an opportunity to make the most of your holiday season, to slow down, to remember the things we have to be grateful for, and still enjoy our favorite holiday foods but in moderation.
Ok, I’ll be honest – the first week of the 21 Day Fix didn’t go exactly the way I planned… Love the meal plan, love shakeology, love the workout and love my little portion control containers… but even with all that, life happens. I spent most of my week in the car driving back and forth to funerals, which is not what I was expecting to do this week. But life happens and you do the best you can, and the next week, you don’t quit!! You make a new plan and keep going!

I love the portion control concept of the 21 Day Fix. It’s clear and straight forward, and my even challengers who have had difficultly following a meal plan before are having success with weight loss by following the easy portion control concept.
I’ve been following the meal plan for almost two months now and it’s one of the easiest plans I’ve ever followed – I love having a list of acceptable clean, whole foods to eat, and I love the accountability of writing down everything I eat each day. This is the first time I’ve kept a food log and I’ve really noticed if I’m writing it down, I won’t cheat.
But it’s hard to keep coming up with original ideas of what to eat every day, so I thought it would be helpful to my challengers and anyone doing the 21 Day Fix if I shared a copy of my week long meal plan each week. So here is my Week One Meal Plan. This is what I plan to eat for the week and while I expect I won’t be perfect, I’m going to do my best.

On a side note, I did my first official 21 Day Fix workout tonight and WOW. That’s all I can say. I am already sore and it kicked my booty. Can’t wait to see what this program has in store for me! Stay tuned for my week one update next Monday along with a new meal plan and more recipes!

The beginning of a new year is typically the time every one makes New Year’s resolutions. You are going to eat healthy. You are going to work out. And you are DEFINITELY going to lose that last 10 pounds. So you buy a gym membership (and of course the gym is busy in January!!). You take your turn on the treadmill and one hour later, you’ve burned 30 calories.
I’m not anti gym – as a homeschool mama, I love my membership to the YMCA since it also comes with free childcare and is the perfect escape when I need a break from the chaos that is my life… but when it comes to getting a real workout in, I can do that at home in ½ the time, without the commute and since I am a busy mom with three kids, running a business from home, I need to save all the time I can.
